Your goal here is the get the desirable result with minimal effort.  Can you benchmark best practices?  Sure, you can!  Look at McDonalds and Subway franchising, for example.  Franchisers took a business system and copied it in a new location.  Find a business plan that can be duplicated and use that to get the ball rolling.

Do – Plan with Scale in Mind

A scalable business is one that functions as a system.  The system should be able to operate the same with 10 or 10,000 customers.  Make your initial goals clear.  Do you want to generate a full or part-time income?  Do you want to have a premium priced product with a few customers?  Or do you want to go for mass product distribution?  More customers may mean you need to hire more support staff to service the customers.  Keep scale in mind when planning your strategy.

Don’t – Be Afraid to Try Something New

Many people getting started are simply uncomfortable with doing business online.  Try to think about the opportunity to have mobile lifestyle.  You can operate your business from the comfort of your home office or from the beach.  Creating this quality of life is enough motivation to get over the initial jitters.

Starting  your own new business online is an exciting adventure.  Use these do’s and don’ts to guide you to success in the future.
