These days it seems like most people have taken a cruise at some point in their lives. Cruising has become very popular and there are cruises available to and from nearly any point in the world. There are Caribbean cruise that drop you off for stops at one or more of the myriad islands, there are cruises to Alaska to see the amazing glaciers, and there are cruises around the Mediterranean. Virtually any place where there is open water and something to see, there will likely be options for cruising and plenty of people lined up to take the cruise.
The appeal of cruising, however, is not universal. There are actually many people for whom taken a cruise might sound more like a prison ship. Most have probably never actually been on a cruise ship and so they envision being trapped in an environment where they don’t have much to do or feel claustrophobic. While most might enjoy gorging themselves on food, lying in the sun, gambling, shopping and basically doing all of the relaxing things you can do on a cruise ship, some people are just not into relaxing and the though of just laying around in a lounge chair on the deck of a boat gives them hives.
But, there are now some simple options for those spouses or significant others that have been begging to be taken on a cruise for years. There is a sort of sample cruise called a cruise to nowhere. On this type of cruise the ship just leaves port for a few days and then returns so you can get the idea about what a longer cruise would be like. If you hate it, you only have to endure a day or two. Most likely, however, you will see that it is nothing like what you pictured in your mind before you went.
There are not many cruises to nowhere available, but Thomson Holidays does have a few around the Mediterranean several times a year. If you contact them, they should be able to give you better details.
