The Gibson Company was originally founded by Orville Gibson as a
manufacturer of Mandolins.  Mr. Gibson replaced the bowl style mandolin
with a sturdier flat style that was much easier to mass manufacture.
Thus began a reputation for new designs that continues to this day.
Gibson created the first truly electric guitar (not electrified
acoustic) and then built the iconic Les Paul solid body.  While Gibson
was continuing to innovate guitars, musicians were continuing to
innovate in their music and many of the hard rockers did their
signature work on Gibson Guitars.

Along the way Gibson designed a signature series featuring artists
such as B.B. King and Chet Atkins. But if you just think of guitars
