Designed for viewers ages three to six, SuperWHY has a basic premise: Young Whyatt has to solve a problem (for instance, he told a lie to his mom but now wants to come clean) so he turns to a band of fairytale friends called the Super-Readers. Whyatt becomes Super-WHY and he and the Super-Readers magically transport themselves into a popular storybook with a similar theme to brainstorm solutions. (In the case of lying, the Super-Readers visit “Pinocchio.”) Along the way, Super-WHY uses high-tech gadgets to decode secret messages, and the Super-Readers use their superpowers (all academic in nature) to reinforce letters, practice basic spelling, and develop read-along skills.
