Buying a new sewing machine can set up back a little or a lot. It just depends on the machine you choose. Some of them are better equipped and have more features than others. If you want the nicer features, you may need to spend a little more money. You should plan ahead before making your purchase by consider just which features you will want your new machine to have.
Do you want it to be able to do different kinds of stitches? The cheapest machines just do straight stitches. If all you want is a simple seam, then that may be okay with you. However, if you want a lot of choices when it comes to different kinds of stitches, then some of the high-end machines can do 100 or more types of stitches.
How important is it to you that it be easy to thread? If you are just going to put in one color of thread and use that all the time, then it may not be that important to you. If you want to change colors or thread types often, then you really need something that is easy to thread. With some machines, threading them is like running a rat maze blindfolded. With others, you just drop the thread in place and that’s about it.
Do you want your sewing machine to be able to connect to your computer? If you intend to do embroidery with your machine, then this is the only way to go. You make your embroidery design on your computer, connect it to your sewing machine, click the mouse and then walk away. When you get back, it’s done.
