Can you even count how many diets to lose a lot of weight you have read about, seen on TV or received from well meaning friends and family members? There are enough fast weight lose diets out there to fill an entire encyclopedia on the topic. How is one to know which diets to lose weight really work and which don’t? Some swear by low fat. But then again is the chemical stuff in all those low fat foods so much better for you than the fat itself? Others say low carb is the ultimate solution, but if you don’t ingest carbohydrates you perpetually run low on energy and feel miserable at least half of the time. Then there are diet pills. And what is REALLY in those anyway? And what’s up with the shakes and fiber pills and all of that anyway. Does anybody like to live on stuff like that?
And do you REALLY know what all these things do to your organism? It always amazes me how willing we are to do some pretty weird stuff to ourselves in order to look a certain way (myself included). But if you really stop and think about it: Wouldn’t a balanced diet that includes all the nutrients your body needs (carbs, protein and yes, fat) of the right kind and in the right amounts be so much better (and a whole lot better tasting) than all that artificial and chemical stuff (that doesn’t even remotely have anything to do with nutrition) we put into our bodies?

I know…so many people will do so many things just lose weight – you are right. I know it’s important to many but I feel like it is much more important to think of weight in terms of healthy living. We have really tried to eliminate processed foods. We strive to eat whole foods and less of the other unhealthy alternatives. I am personally trying to drink lots of water and take my vitamins too. I take my Vidazorb probiotic every day since reading how great probiotics are for us…which even read how they help with weight. So…I guess we do the best we can. But, I do think that it is way more important to make healthy choices then I think the weight will follow!
