Whether you just want to lose a few pounds, or a lot more, chances are you’ve spent a lot of time and money on diets that don’t work. With all the diets already on the market, and new ones coming out each day, it’s a jungle out there, and it can be hard to know which to trust. This is even more the case when you consider that a large proportion of even the most popular diets are useless, or even worse, actually bad for your health.

To lose fat and actually keep it off, it’s best to leave the ‘dieting’ mentality behind altogether, and aim instead to re-educate your eating habits, so you’ll not only lose weight but keep it off for good. But this aim in itself can lead to confusion, as there’s so much conflicting information about what is and isn’t healthy.

The truth is, there is no one way of eating that works well for every person – people have different tastes, and their bodies respond differently to foods. Some people do well with a bit more fat, or carbs, or protein; some have allergies even to ‘healthy’ foods; some thrive as vegetarians whereas others do not, etc. So if someone is trying to insist that you absolutely must eat a certain way to be slim or healthy, don’t buy it. The best way to go is to get a solid grounding in basic good healthy eating practices, and then let your own body dictate what it needs.

However, for many people, especially those who have spent years living on junk foods, it is difficult to truly listen to the body’s messages, as they are clouded by unhealthy cravings and old bad habits. So a diet plan that is based on sensible portion sizes and healthy, natural foods can be a great idea for those who want to develop new habits but need the support of a structured regime for a while they’re getting there. But which diet plan is best?

To help to try to bring some clarity to the confusion, I am setting up a new website, which provides an unbiased look at the fat loss and weight loss plans that are available, as well as lots of articles on the topic. There’s also a blog to accompany the site, which can be found at Fat Loss Choices.
