China Presents A Real Opportunity To Improve Your Business By Importing
China is known as the factory of the world. Its economy is growing faster than ever. It presents a great opportunity that you need to take advantage of. Communications make it so easy and instantaneous to be and stay in touch with China, that there really is no excuse not to do business with Chinese suppliers.
Start Import and Export Business
You cannot afford to ignore China these days. Many people believe it is too hard to import but this is no longer the case, especially with the internet making China more accessible and as near to you as a click of your mouse.
Most companies are still moving production to China because costs to manufacture are most favorable. There are a number of factors that contribute to low labor costs. Chinese companies do not need to pay insurance or social security payments to employees. There is a low tax burden. Interest rates are low. Construction costs are low. Energy is cheap and there is plenty of cheap real estate.
Everyone knows that the cheaper you get to the source the lower the price is. This use to be difficult but now with the internet, it is possible for anyone to go direct to the source. Chinese suppliers are targeting western markets heavily. They are looking for buyers like you. The good news is that Chinese suppliers are not too concerned about who they supply. You don’t even need to be a registered company to get products from China.
Importing from China is a must if you want to stay competitive in your business, or if you want to start a new business venture. It is not as difficult as it seems. There are always untapped opportunities waiting to be discovered. You just have to have an open mind even if means looking into products you don’t know much about. It doesn’t have to be simply bringing in the same products as other people. There are always new designs and models available in China, not yet available in the Western market.
Before becoming a member, I know that you have looked into or even tried buying popular wholesale brand name products. But unless you have lots of start-up capital you won’t be able to compete with the prices on the Internet, not to mention the huge amount of competition.
Have you wasted money trying to sell an iPod among the other thousand listings on eBay? It’s just not possible to make money this way. You must make yourself standout from the competition. You can’t compete with companies like Amazon and Wal-Mart. Places like these are buying in such large quantities that they have total control over the supplier and the prices. These companies also have massive logistics systems and marketing power. The brand name pretty much sells itself.
The good news is that anyone can import products. There’s no need for a license unless you plan on importing restricted items which vary depending on which country you come from. China Import Export
People are attracted to importing for the following two reasons. But to the beginner, the Import process can be mind boggling. So I have written these guides in an easy to understand format and make it interesting to read.
* Number one is that you can purchase products drastically cheaper than buying them from a wholesaler. This enables you to increase your profit margin. This is called Direct to Retail.
* Number two is that there is HUGE product variety when importing from China than anywhere else. You will find absolutely any product you are looking for. If you can’t, then you can easily get it produced for you by a manufacturer.
But let me tell you a few other reasons why I’m a huge fan of importing from china. One such reason is that this is a great ability to get your products customized the way you want them to be. This makes your product different from your competitions. It is your own product!
* For example, I was looking at importing All-in-one LCD TV computers from Shenzhen Z-Fanda Imp & Exp Co. But at the time all the products offered were only available in black. So, I negotiated to have the products produced with a Red monitor. That really made my products different from everyone else selling these products.
* Apart from that, I also told them I wanted increased specs on the computer such as upgraded RAM and a 250GB Hard Drive Capacity. This of course increased the amount I payed for each item but in the end I still was paying below wholesale and my product was superior and stood out in the market.
* Buying form Asian manufacturers gives you the option of establishing a Brand for your business. This is important because it gives more value to your business, so when it comes time to sell your business you’re going to get a lot more than if you became just another company trading with no brand items. This term is called OEM service and this simply means the manufacturer will print your Logo or Brand on the Item that they produce. It really is a good feeling receiving a shipment of goods and opening them to find your own Logo or Brand on the goods.
Another Big reason people are interested in importing products is that they want to be able to dominate a particular market or break into a market that is competitive. You may be aware of how popular Chinese Car DVD players are becoming on Auction sites such as EBay. When I was looking for products to sell on Ebay, I came across these Car DVD players. I took a look on Ebay at the time and found a lot of them for sale. But I was able to take a large portion of the market by sourcing them straight from a manufacturer in Hong Kong.
I was able to sell them at least $100 dollars cheaper than some of my competitors. Yes some businesses were also directly importing them and selling them on the internet but the difference was that I was drop-shipping them from Hong Kong straight to my customers. So I didn’t have to pay shipping costs or deal with any of the Customs issues.
Therefore I virtually didn’t have any running costs accept for advertising. This allowed me to have a VERY good profit margin. But even if I wasn’t Drops hipping, I still would have been able to profit greatly in that market just by importing them from China.
Distributors and Agents
For those of you who don’t want to import products and sell them yourselves, you probably want to become an agent or Wholesaler.
If you want exclusive rights to the supplier’s products then you will have to become an agent. This a bit more difficult because the supplier will require you to sell a certain amount each month. As an agent you will be a representative in your country for the supplier. You will be selling products to people on a commission basis. Your profit will usually be something like 3 to 5 dollars per product.
As an agent your outlay will be minimized:
* Because the supplier will take on most of the import costs;
* And, you won’t need to physically stock any items.
* You will just be passing on the orders straight on to the supplier who will take care of the shipping.
* So, basically you will take care of the marketing and promotional activities.
* The disadvantage is that your commissions will not be as good as the profits you would achieve by importing the products yourself and selling them on your own account.
Competition among agents can be quite fierce. If you do become successful you could end up losing your business. And, you may want to watch out because your supplier may just set up its own branch in your country to handle distribution if the products seem to be selling well. This would leave you out in the cold. Some times unethical suppliers will just use you as an agent to test the market for their products to see whether they should establish their own branch.
Some people become a wholesaler by importing goods to distribute to businesses in their own country. By being a distributor of a supplier’s product, you can also gain exclusive rights to a suppliers products but it is much harder because you will have to demonstrate that you can fulfill a large amount of orders on a regular basis.
But by far most people import to sell the products themselves on Ebay or the internet. If you’re ordering in small quantities you won’t even need to worry about all the freight hassles that come with larger shipments. The courier will deliver to your door. Heaps of people saturate the market, all selling the same products from domestic wholesalers. You can easily find a unique product from China and be the only person importing it from a supplier.
Many of the power sellers on EBay are actually sourcing their products from China. That’s how they remain so competitive. So do yourself a favor and get great low priced products straight from the source.
So, Why Should We Import From China? Because China Presents a Real Opportunity to Improve Your Business by Importing, or to Start an Altogether New Business of Your Own!
In this writing, I have talked to you as if you are already in a business of your own, selling imported products. I know many who sell imported products. But many are not yet importing directly from China. They are buying from wholesale distributors already in the country, as I indicated above.
If you are not yet selling products from China, or if you are selling products from China, but not yet importing them directly, you should seriously consider doing the importation yourself and make more money, control your product and your share of the market.
You may not be in business of your own yet. Importing from China is a very good way of getting into your own business. The products from China are plentiful. They are of high quality. They are easy to obtain. For the quality, they are the best in their price range.
Or it may be that you are in your own business already, but have not given though to having your own brand. If you have a good market or can develop a good market, you should think seriously of finding a manufacturer in China to make your product with your own brand name.
As I said before, a few reasons I’m a huge fan of importing from china is that that this is a great ability to get your products customized the way you want them to be. This makes your product different from your competitors. It is your own product!
* Once, I was looking at importing All-in-one LCD TV computers from an Export & Import Company in China. At the time all the products offered were available only in black. So, I negotiated to have the products produced with a Red monitor. That really made my products different from everyone else selling similar products.
* In addition, I also wanted increased specs on the computer such as upgraded RAM and a 250GB Hard Drive Capacity. This increased the price I payed for each item, in the end I was still paying below wholesale and my product was superior and stood out in the market. Sourcing from China
