As more and more people lose their jobs and the economy sinks, people often think about what would happen if everything became too expensive and if supplies dried up. Not to worry, a little planning and preparation using these survival secrets I’m about to share with you should help ease your mind.
The first thing you want to do is take note of your location and resources available. The differences between urban and the wilderness will be a big determining factor on what “pattern” you should take. By pattern, I mean that if you’re cold, wet and in the snow, fire would be the most important, then shelter. If you’ re in the middle of a hurricane I don’t think fire would be as important as shelter.
Man’s 3 basic needs are food, water and shelter…so make sure you have those taken care of first. Canned food or MRE’s (meals ready to eat) are some of the best ways to store food. You can even begin doing this now and just rotate new supplies into your “survival kit” and pull the oldest from your kit to ensure you always have fresh food on standy-by. As for water, buying some 5 gallon jugs from your local water company or simply filling up old 1 gallon jugs that you usually throw away with water could come in very handy.
It is always handy to keep a book around that has survival information. I don’t know about you, but I can’t remember everything. Some of the things to take in to consideration are first aid kit. Some will argue that this one of the most important items you can have with you at all times. Some items that can be found in a first aid kit are ibuprofen, alcohol wipes, bandages, gauze, cold packs, exam gloves, peroxide and tape.
