With My 40th birthday looming, I’ve been noticing that I was no longer in the kind of physical shape that I used to be in. I’ve never exactly been a couch potato, but years of standing at work, and sitting around the house have affected my weight and overall fitness levels.
When I was younger, I kept in shape by practicing martial arts. It actually was a pursuit that helped define me for a long time. So martial arts was one of the first things I thought of when brainstorming ways to get back into a workout routine.
Luckily for me, Mixed Martial Arts(MMA) has become an immensely popular sport over the last decade. Besides being a truely hardcore test of fitness and physicality, the popularity of MMA has turned it into a huge business financially, which has, in turn, attracted cutting edge coaches, nutrionists, and sports physiologists.
What this means for me is that an activity I enjoy is tapped into a huge base of cutting edge fitness information.
MMA training routines need to cover just about every aspect of fitness-strength training, plyometrics, cardio…to be the best(or to be at your best), you need to have a well crafted system in place. I’m happy to report that I have found one that is working for me.
I’m using the Squidoo platform to help chronicle my journey, and also to give workout tips and ideas to like minded people-please feel free to stop by and check out my lenses!
