Interest in a  golf  GPS system has skyrocketed lately.  For good reason, more golfers are turning to this new electronic technology to help them make better decisions while on the golf course. These devices saves time by aiding the golfer in club selection and overall course strategy. It also helps to speed up the game.

But the  best part of the  popularity of  a gps caddie is that they have now been declared legal for use in tournament play by all of golf’s governing bodies if  they approved by the local golf course. Most have approved its use this point so you should check with yours just to be sure. And then hassle them if they haven’t !

Improvements in the technology have continued to make a golf GPS system both user friendly and affordable . Another benefit of the growing popularity of these units is the growing variety of choices as more manufacturers enter the market.

The number of models offering different features can be confusing to those golfers looking into the possibility of owning one of their own. So here are five considerations to understand in order to select the best golf GPS caddie for your needs.

1. Price.  Which one gives you the best for your money. Do you want a simple one for 150 bucks or the super deluxe model at $650. You need to decide which fits your needs. Are you a 30 handicap or a one handicap? Do you play every day or once a month?

2. Ease of use. Do you want a programmable system or a all-in-one device. Some golf GPS systems require you to download course information from a website. Easy enough to do but you may not be teal good with the computer. Other devices are ready to go right out of the box. They already have all the courses available from that manufacturer loaded into them.

3. Course selection. Is your favorite course  available?  You should be able to research the available course lists for the golf GPS caddie you are looking to buy.  It doesn’t help you any if the course you play most often isn’t available.

4. the Brand.  You  want a trustworthy manufacturer. One that has been in business for a while. And not necessarily the golf  business. you need a unit free of bugs.

5. Features. Some people want only a golf GPS system that gives just the basics while others  want the whole nine yards. Do you want distances to hazards or the corner of the dogleg or can you do without that info? Some units have  scorecard software so you can track scores for your entire group. The newer ones even recommends a club based on how far you hit each club. Do you want to be able to map the course yourself? Not all the systems allow this.

There’s a lot to consider when making your choice. You want the best golf GPS system for you. Hopefully, these tips should help you make that decision.
