Squidoo Lenses Work!

Hello Folks:

Well…there’s getting to be quite a few of my own (very own) Squidoo pages to link to and I originally made those to

demo certain segments of my IM knowledge and a funny thing happened on the way to the goal.

I was kind of just playing around.

I intended for the Squidoo Sites to be “feeder sites.” ie Sites that collect traffic and then spin it off to a place that it might be easier to “cash” the customer.

I don’t know what I was thinking.

Maybe that’s a good idea in some cases but what about the old thought that you should sell a customer right where he is.

Time out.

Back in the day (six months) I was having a Dickins of a time just getting a paypal button to work!

So I decided to make this one site about Paypal Buttons.

I was starting to have a lot of success learning all about PayPal buttons and back in the spring Pot Pie told me to make more Squidoo lenses. And I did. Do what Pot Pie Girl says and you will get there.

I made it about paypal buttons which turned out to have LOTS of interest…BUT…what do you sell them?

I don’t want to be purely platonic. If I have traffic I want to find something to sell them. And if I have something to sell I want to find traffic for it!

So it came down to this. I had paypal buttons traffic. They wanted paypal buttons so they could sell something and get paid for it!

So, I decided to show them some “How To Sell On the Internet” information and, by gosh, it’s working! A little.

Why? Because by now I have found some of the very best stuff out there. oh oh…list coming…

It isn’t much because my traffic is coming for paypal buttons and they didn’t come for marketing info. They typed in “create a paypal button.”

But they must need traffic, right? Well a portion of them do.

So I’m going to make some money now and then and that’s a LOT better than I was going to do with a site that gave out free paypal button info.

Did I tell you I had made 4 of these paypal button sites. Four!

What was I thinking! I really don’t know. And they are getting traffic and growing! But make money…Nah! Well not much, but the ARE growing.

So, I guess I’m telling you that I built a Squidoo site in kind of the WRONG way and ended up with a free domain name AND free hosting (that’s the Squidoo deal) but I get the traffic and there’s getting to be a fair bit of it!

Therefore, I am going to give you my new-improved short version of how I would have done it if I knew then what I know now.

1. I would get a domain name a lot closer to the topic of the site.

I’d try for something like http://www.squidoo.com/Create-And-Install-Paypal-Button as the URL and Create and Install Paypal Button as the title. That’s recommended for quicker pickup by the search engines.

2. I would gear the Squidoo lens to Get Opt-ins and build a list. You’ll regret it a year from now if you don’t.

3. I would structure the Squidoo site to make as many sales as it could without turning into an online version of a Ray Bradbury Carnival of the Damned.

By that I mean I’d put some relevant offers on it, make them stand out, and hope for the best. If there were no sales I’d tweak the layout and especially the sales copy.

So..what have I told you?

I have told you that if you are still one of the lost souls who would like to learn a way to make money on the internet that starting a Squidoo lens is a darn cheap (free) way of ending up with a sort of a website (in many ways better) that Google LIKES and you will get traffic. And you can make some money.

IF you follow Pot Pie Girls Rules. I did and it worked.

It would have worked a lot better if I could follow instructions.
