Chronic Sinusitis Symptoms
Sinusitis is a swelling of the inner lining of the sinuses i.e. the medical term for inflammation (irritation and swelling) of the sinuses and usually caused by bacteria or viral infection. The difference between chronic and acute sinusitis is just on the duration of infection. Symptoms of acute sinusitis will improved after 10 days to 2 weeks, where as chronic sinusitis symptoms. can last very long, and will be harder to cure compare to acute sinusitis. It is hard to tell the difference between a cold and a sinus infection just by their symptoms, as both of them share common symptoms. The easiest way to tell the difference is by their duration, as chronic sinusitis doesn’t go away by a few doses of antibiotics. There are a few common sinus infection symptoms, which includes
1)Persistent cough with running nose: If your cough and running nose doesn’t cure within 1 week even after you had a few doses of antibiotics, chances of you having sinus infection is high.
2) Nasal obstruction: Nasal obstruction might caused by allergy or cold, and if it wasn’t treat well it might get worse and cause sinus infection.
3) Intense facial pain and headache: Sinus infection will have such symptoms because the pressure in your nose has increased due to maxillary sinus inflammation.
According to doctor experience, chronic sinusitis mostly occurs in people who have allergy from pollen grains or asthma family background. But it doesn’t mean that for those who don’t have allergy and asthma will be totally safe from sinus infection. Due to the increasing of air pollution, and the increasing of smokers people are more tend to have sinus infection.
