Healing a Broken Relationship

Healing a broken relationship isn’t easy. The attempt is full of self-recriminations, long looks at was was great, and short looks at what you’ve lost.
I remember an old movie entitled Love Story. It starred Ryan O’Neil and Ali McGaw (I think it was her!!) Anyway, the thing this movie was noted for was a one-liner by Ali….. “Love means never having to say you’re sorry”. There now you know where that phrase really came from. I’ll bet you’ve heard people say it a hundred times? I know I have - but then maybe I’ve lived longer than you! ![]()
Is that statement true? I mean, honestly, just because you love someone you never have to say you’re sorry…..for anything???? Don’t you ever believe it. Of course we know that the quote doesn’t mean never having to say sorry - totally - but it does imply a certain “take for granted” attitude in their “love Story”. Don’t make that mistake in yours. Pay attention - watch for the little things that your boyfriend/girlfriend does for you and really appreciate them. How many BIG arguments could have been avoided if the “small stuff” had been noticed? Your girlfriend makes sure that there is room for your toothbrush on the bathroom counter. Your boyfriend cooks dinner every Wednesday. You take his dog out in the morning so he can sleep, He stops by the dry cleaners for your dress because it’s out of your way. Don’t ever stop saying thank-you, and ALWAYS say you’re sorry - and mean it!
