- Focuses on the long term – there’s no point in ‘going on a diet’, losing weight, then going back to your old eating habits and regaining it all. Yet many people are aught in this miserable cycle of yo-yoing up and down the scale, because they never really change their basic eating habits and attitude towards food.
The plans in a large number of the diet books that are available don’t meet these criteria. They involve faddy, unbalanced eating plans, expect people to starve themselves, or to spend a fortune on potentially dangerous pills and unsatisfying meal-replacements.
