2008 is the 50Th anniversary of the start of carry on long running series of British comedy films.
Originally directed by Gerald Thomas and produced by Peter Rogers. They are seen as classic examples of British comedy.
The first Carry On film in 1958 was Carry On Sergeant, with the latest which would be number 30 in the series, planned to be titled Carry On London.
