Do you like canned tomatoes? If you know how to grow tomatoes you can save money by canning your own and they will taste far better than any you can buy.
If you live in an apartment, or just don’t have the garden space for a traditional outdoor tomato garden you can grow tomatoes in pots.
In fact you can even grow tomatoes indoors and they will do quite well as long as their basic requirements are met.
Another somewhat different idea is to grow upside down tomatoes. Doing it this way will make it harder for pests to get at, plus it adds a unique look to your yard.
If you plan to eat your tomatoes fresh from the garden you may want to grow big tomatoes such as one of the “Beefsteak” varieties, or if you want to make your own sauces you might consider a “Roma” tomato.
While some people like to buy tomatoes in pots from their greenhouse, I’ve found that I’ve been able to get healthier plants if I grow tomatoes from seed.
Why not save tomato seeds from the best tomatoes out of this years crop? Saving tomato seeds is not an overly complicated process if you don’t mind a little mess.
