Like anything else in this world, dogs come in various sizes, colours, paws, tails, fur, teeth and others. But for the most part, these are large, powerful dogs. Scent hounds such as bloodhounds, beagles and foxhounds have historically aided hunters by following the scent trails left by their quarry. Some breeds were even bred to finish the job themselves. Skilled owners in training are what they need. The poodle’s opposite may be the bulldog. Non-sporting dog breeds. Reliable, brawny and harnessing first-rate stamina, they make great companions for adults and children alike. Go-getting is the word most often used to describe terriers. The millions of mixed-breed dogs around the world are a testament to that.
THE ANATOMY OF A CANINE
Ears are third-quarters tipped over facing forward. Called thermoregulation, this ability allows canids to thrive in all types of climates, from the subarctic to the Sahara. Two rows of six small, curved incisors help the dog maintain a firm grip on prey, while four large, pointed canine teeth tear at it. Many of these products contain heavy amounts of chemically-created odors which can get to your pet right where they live – near the floor where most of these products are used. The arctic fox, on the other hand, has minuscule ears to minimize the effects of the frigid weather in its northern homeland. The fur can be puffed up to trap warm air in cold weather or held closely against the skin to release heat on warm days. Paws.
