How well I understand your frustration, and the thoughts of giving up something you love to do.
My son went through this same situation a few months ago. To be brief, my son (Donnie) has been very athletic for many years and Basketball is one of his life long passions. He also plays competitive Volleyball, both indoors and on the beach. He has always felt that his speed and jumping ability was not where he thought it should be. With him, training was never an issue because he always felt that to get anything in life you have to work for it. Watching him get frustrated has always been hard for me because I know he did his best.
Then the straw that broke the camels back came to be. A few months ago he was playing an important Basketball game and a player on the opposing team sent Donnie over the edge. Donnie is 6′3″ and sort of towered over Jason C ( the opposing player), who is about 5′8″. The whole game Jason just was much Faster and Jumped so high he looked like he was flying. It took all Donnie had to just finish the game. After the game, Donnie went over to Jason to congratulate him and asked Jason how does he move so Fast and Jump so high.
Without thinking about it, Jason told Donnie the name of the training program he’s been using and that he gained an incredible 13 inches to his jump. Later my son and I went online to take a look at what this program was all about. After watching the video, and listening to all the information, I decided to pay for the program for my son. It was really the best investment I ever made. After only a short few weeks, he gained about 6-7 inches on his Vertical Jump, and his Quickness increased dramaticly.
First off, most athletes reach a point where they don’t think they can get any better, and in most cases their wrong. There are many athletes that can increase their playing performance when they learn how. Its not that you reached your full potential, its that you haven’t been properly training. There are a few basic principles involved that once you learn them, you’ll be amazed how much you can improve. The very first thing you must understand is what is expected of you.
The time has come to learn how I can jump higher.
